Project Migration Behind The Scenes Video

Visit Project Migration's website here to find out more information on how you can help the charity!

Project Migration

Had a great shoot today with model Hilary Rowland, head of the charity group Project Migration. We shot some of her t-shirts with world famous photographer Daniel Garriga, that will be used in ads and articles about the charity. The pictures will be up sometime next week on the website, and I'll be sure to let you know when they're published. And buy a t-shirt! They're awesome, and you'll be supporting a good cause! (I'm sporting the tank top Hilary is wearing below)

Here's some more information on Project Migration:
Project Migration focuses on tackling three of the most pressing issues facing women and girls living in poverty around the world, with a special focus on single mothers in Africa. Their products are handmade by single mothers in Africa. Sale of the products is part of a charitable initiative to provide clean water and medical supplies for these women and other single mothers in central Africa, as well as provide them with a source of income so that they can feed their children and provide them with education. For each product purchased, Project Migration will donate up to 20 years of clean water and medical supplies to single mothers in central Africa.

Lashisse

I'm sure all of you have seen the commercials for Latisse (that boast they make your eyelashes longer and fuller)...well Funny or Die made a parody of the commerical, called Lashisse. The video is histerical...watch it here: Lashisse/ why are my eyes bleeding?

M.A.C Style Black Collection

In the M.A.C Style Black collection, all the products have hues of black in them, creating alluring looks for the fall. I'm not really sure how I feel about the collection, although I really love the black nail polishes (Seriously Hip Black with gold particle pearl, and Baby Goth Girl Black with pink and purple pearl) and the Glimmer glass for lips (same as nail polishes).

Here's the video they released for the collection.

Illamasqua Art Of Application (INGENUE)

Illamasqua is a fairly new UK makeup brand (they launched in nov '08) that is truly amazing. They just started selling their top 200 items in Sephora in the US, so if they're at your local store, definitely check out their products. The creator of the line, Alex Box, is one of my idols, and I really love how dramatic the products she's created are. They drew inspiration from the 1920's berlin club scene and london's underground scene.

I really love this instructional video they made, and wanted to share it!

NARS Orgasm Blush

If you're looking for a great blush, that can be universally used on every skin tone, NARS "Orgasm" blush is your savior. It's a great peachy-pink color, with just the right amount of glitter to highlight the cheek bones and really make your cheeks pop. It's pretty sheer, so you can give your cheeks just a tiny flush of color, or you can build it up to give them a more defined look. It's been voted the best blush by both the beauty industry AND consumers, and has won 15 awards. I'm a huge fan of this blush, I use it on myself and on models for photoshoots. You can buy it here.

If you're looking for a blush with a little more pop, NARS also offers their Orgasm blush in the Super Orgasm shade. Same color and sheer effect, but with more shimmer. You can buy it here.

You can also buy nail polish, lip gloss, and the multiple (a creamy multi-purpose stick that can be used on eye, face, and body) in the "Orgasm" shade.

Shot with Gabriel Everett today,

and the shoot went really well, I'm excited to see the final pictures. We shot at some great locations in NJ. Here are some behind the scenes pics...

This month looks like it's already getting pretty busy...6 shoots already confirmed, and about 7-10 more that are in the process of being confirmed and scheduled. Hopefully more things will filter in.

Also, the Anthony Bourdain shoot I did back in May will be featured in the September '09 issue of PRESTIGE Hong Kong. Once I get a copy, I'll be sure to scan it and post it :)

Take Beauty Surveys and Get Paid Cash!

Daily Makeover wants to know your beauty and makeup buying habits and regimen, and they're willing to pay for it. Just for signing up and completing the 1st survey, they put $5 in your account, and once you've accumulated $25 in surveys, you can either have them transfer the money to you safely through Pay-Pal, choose to have it in a gift card on Amazon, or even donated to your favorite charity. The questions are super easy: Ranging from "What type of hair do you have - Oily, Normal, Dry" to "What brands of makeup do you most often use". I'm not sure how often new surveys will be put up, but check back on their site regularly. It took me about 6 minutes to complete the first survey, and you can do it while you check your e-mail in the morning. By completing the surveys, you're allowing YOUR voice to be heard in the beauty industry.
